The Advanced Learning Program
The Advanced Learning Program at Borah emphasis is in reading and math for the third, fourth and fifth grades. Students are grouped by grade level with their academic peers for reading and math. They receive reading instruction outside their core instruction. Math instruction is the core program. Both subjects are based on the pace and learning styles of the individuals and classes.
Some of the enriching activities we have or will have in the 2008-2009 school year are Junior Great Books, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Mars Rover and Invention Convention.
The goal is to meet the needs of all learners with an appropriate educational experience to promote academic growth.
Thank You EXCEL!
Thanks to EXCEL I received a grant for 5 netbooks, which are a version of a laptop. I also will get a subscription to BrainPop. BrainPop has fun videos and quizzes to introduce and review concepts that we are teaching. The district is matching funds, so I am lucky enough to get 10 netbooks total. Thank you EXCEL!
Invention Convention
Borah's second annual Invention Convention is Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20th. The inventions should be taken to the library. Click here for the packet directions.
Trickster Tales
In third grade, one of the genres we read is Trickster Tales. Here are some examples of fun trickster tales to read.
